FAQs

Q. How quickly can you work on our project?

A. Allow 30-days advanced notice for scheduling your project. Sometimes, depending on our schedule, we can fit you in sooner. So, if you need something done right away, call us. We’ll do everything we can to help!

Q. How do I choose the right hardwood for my floor?

A. It depends on your particular situation. We work with a wide range of domestic and exotic woods. Each has characteristics that make them better suited for certain application, including firmness, stability, sensitivity to moisture, and color. This website offers basic information about each type of wood. Prior to the start of any project, one of our flooring experts will meet with you to help you make the right decision.

Q. Can you match a color I already have on a floor?

A. Yes! We can custom match any hardwood floor color. No matter how old the floor, we can custom mix a stain and finish that matches.

Q. Can you match colors?

A. We can match any solid hardwood floor, provided the original product is not discontinued. We can also custom match colors.

Q. When you install our new floor, do we have to leave the house?

A. You will not need to leave your home while we are installing the floor. Hardwood floor installation will be a little disruptive but our installers will do everything possible to minimize any affect it might have to your daily life. You may need to leave while we apply the finish. You cannot walk on the floor until it has had sufficient time to dry, up to 24 hours, depending on the finish being used.

Q. Does the finish have a strong smell?

A. It depends on the type of finish we are using on your floor. We do offer low-odor alternatives.

Q. How long does it take to refinish a floor?

A. For a typical three room project of less than 1,000 sq. ft., we will sand and add three coats of finish in 5 – 7 days.

Q. What kinds of finish do you offer?

A. 3 kinds: oil base, water base, and epoxy.

Q. What colors do you offer?

A. There are two main collections we offer: Bona DryFast Stain Collection, (we can customize to any color) and Berger-Seidle Foor Refinishes.

Q. What’s the best way to clean a hardwood floor?

A. The old-fashioned way – with water and vinegar. We don’t recommend any hardwood floor cleaners. Most of them leave a residue.
